7 Sopranos at Carnegie Hall

“Youthfulness, beauty, charm, ego, love, deceit, and despair – these are all themes that run through the soprano repertoire. On Saturday, October 5th the 7 Sopranos took their Carnegie Hall audience on a roller-coaster journey through familiar music to bring insight into the life of a diva, with all its dramatic twists and turns.”

The road to Carnegie Hall was full of its share of dramatic twists and turns as well. The sopranos almost didn’t get to perform in the prestigious concert venue due to a stage hand strike. “For two days the show was on again, off again. We were exploring other venues but kept our fingers crossed that the strike would be resolved. We had to make a last minute call about whether or not to move the show, but on Friday afternoon the strike ended and the show went on!” said Cynthia Cole, founder of the 7 Sopranos.

The sold out performance was a dream come true for the group who got it’s start at Convergence. In 2009, Cynthia came up with the idea for the 7 Sopranos after attending an interactive worship service at Convergence.  Soon after she began holding auditions and rehearsing in the Sanctuary at Convergence. Since then, the 7 Sopranos have toured throughout Virginia, Washington D.C. and Maryland for performances like the Artscape in Baltimore, the DC Capital Fringe Festival, and countless concerts in venues across the area.

Currently, the 7 Sopranos are Cynthia Cole, Adrienne Neil, Nicole Lamm, Bharati Soman, Eriko Takura Murray, Laura E. Bass, Jennifer Wintle with accompanists Ruth Locker and Sophia Kim Cook.
