Exploring the Intersection of Art, Faith and the Human experience

LAA Sound Studio

The Lab Sound Studio is a exciting addition to LAA and one of our newest spaces at Convergence. In early 2012 Dan ABH and Jay Smith had discussions about the need for affordable practice and recording space to support musicians. This led to the dream of renovating one of the rooms at The Lab and the possibility of building a music studio.  In October of 2012 it became a reality.

The studio was built by an all volunteer team of all ages.  With a very minimal budget the team tore the older room apart and built a the new “room within a room” over the course of 6 months.  The Lab Sound-Studio opened in October 2012 and has already recorded many bands, albums and projects.

The Sound-Studio also fills a dire need in the area by serving as an affordable rehearsal space for local bands in the DMV. Quarterly contracts and hourly rehearsal rates are available. Amenities include a shared back-line, sound reinforcement and climate control.

The rehearsal space has been the home to: MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER, THE BEANSTALK LIBRARY, TOY STORE RIOT, CAUST, THE GOOD-FOR-NOTHINGS, OKLAHOMA CAR CRASH, TATLINS TOWER, DIAL-UP, REBECCA Vs. MEXICO, PERMAFROST and others.
